Members of the Knowledge Web can contribute to the Knowledge Web in three ways

  • Uploading documents and creating pages on the site
  • Posting comments on the site
  • Participating in forums

Uploading documents

  1. Navigate to the page you wish to place the report or document
  2. Look for the ‘Contribute to the Network’ heading on the right hand side of the page
  3. Click on the ‘Add a new item to ..(page category name)’ link
This opens up a page where you will need to acknowledge you have permission from your agency or original copyright holder to share the item.
    Note:
Hyperlinking to reports on other sites is acceptable practice, you do not need to seek permission to link to other sites.
  4. In Step 1 of 2 you will need to fill in all the fields using free text or the drop down menus.  You also need to provide an abstract or description of the report highlighting its significance , it s use or why people should read it. The edit tools in the overview section work in a similar fashion to Microsoft Word, including creating hyperlinks and adding images,
  5. Step 2 of 2 is where you can upload the document to the site (it works just like attaching a file to an email).
If you think the report belongs in 2 categories you can select multiple areas to publish the page.
You can attach a related document to the site. For example if there is a presentation that accompanies the research report you can attach that item in Step 2.
  6. Once documents are uploaded hit submit and the page and document will be sent to the Web team.  Once the team has reviewed the information they will make your page live and it will appear in the area of the site you placed it.
