Benefits of membership
Knowledge Web membership provides access to restricted information and interactive features on the site. These include:
- Member only research information – All membership types
- Ability to comment on articles and participate in forums – All membership types
- Ability to submit articles for publication – All membership types
- Subscription news services – All membership types
- Access to operational information – Knowledge Web and AFAC Group members
Please note:
When applying for membership all applicants must agree to the Terms and Conditions and Code of Conduct set out in the application process. Failure to do so will void any application.
Types of Membership
Membership of the AFAC Knowledge Web is open to staff and volunteers of AFAC member agencies and researchers and other subject matter experts by special invitation. There are three membership categories providing different levels of access to the site. These are:
AFAC Group Members
This membership is by invitation only for people working on or with AFAC Groups. AFAC Group Membership provides access to the AFAC Group collaboration area of the site and all member only material. Membership is generated automatically on joining a group.
Knowledge Web Members
This membership is available to staff and volunteers of AFAC member agencies. It provides access to all member only material excluding the AFAC Group collaboration area of the site. Applicants will need an agency email address such as "jsmith@cfa.vic.gov.au." Applicants without an agency email address will need to fill in an online application which will be verified with their home agency.

Research member
This membership is available to researchers working in the field of fire, land management or emergency service research. Research members have access to the member only research material on the site. Applicants will need to complete an application form and restrictions do apply.
