The review of the Australasian Inter-service Incident Management SystemTM Revised Edition 2011 and its release by AFAC in October 2011 has necessitated a review of the current 22022VIC Course in the Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS), Version 2, December 2009.
While the original expiry date for the 22022VIC Course in AIIMS is 2014, the inclusion of the Public Information function, changes to the Planning Section and other enhancements to the System have necessitated a requirement to reaccredit the short course through the Victorian Recognition Qualifications Authority (VRQA). The purpose of the reaccreditation process is to ensure that the short course in AIIMS remains consistent with the new additions and enhancements to the System.
The course addresses underpinning knowledge only and does not contain any practical emergency management activities. This course provides entry level training for personnel prior to specialising in specific AIIMS roles. In addition, people holding senior roles in AIIMS will be required to hold specific competencies from the Public Safety Training Package, relating to the role they perform. These requirements are specified by individual agencies.
All AFAC Licensees currently delivering the AIIMS Course have been notified of the proposed reaccreditation of the AIIMS course.
