Overview
The International Bushfire Research Conference 2008 - incorporating The 15th annual AFAC Conference, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
Victoria's lead bushfire agencies (Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) & Country Fire Authority (CFA), Victoria) in partnership with Parks Victoria, Melbourne Water, VicForest and Department of Primary Industry have undergone a series of reviews and inquiry from 1939 through to 2008.
Historically reviews and inquiries have been a regular feature of land and fire management in Victoria after major fires. Such reviews and inquiries have assisted in fostering a learning culture within Victoria's lead bushfire agencies. Victorian bushfire agencies undertake regular internal reviews of processes after each season.
In some instances these reviews have been a direct response to the recommendations made by inquiries while others have been as a result of management using inquiries as the basis for organisational change.
