Overview

This report is the inquest into the four deaths and four fires that occurred in Canberra
Between 8 and 18 January 2003 conducted by the ACT’s Coroners Office.

The Canberra fires of 2003 burned over 70 percent of the ACT’s pasture, forests (pine plantations) and nature parks.  After burning for almost a week on the outskirts of Canberra on the 18 January they entered the Canberra suburbs, destroying 500 homes and killing 4 people.  Wikipedia has comprehensive information on the fire.
