Overview

A gas explosion on Level 29 of a residential high rise building caused severe damage to the building and made the lifts inoperable.  All the residents had to be evacuated using the fire stairs.

This case study describes the evacuation operation and examines the issues an Incident Controller will face when dealing with a residential high rise evacuation where the lifts cannot be used.
