The pre-eminent AFAC Conference is the highlight of the conference calendar for fire and emergency services agencies in the Asia Pacific region. Fire Environment and Society was the theme for 2008 and incorporated the Bushfire CRC's International Bushfire Research Conference.
Specifically aimed at researchers, practitioners, professionals and senior managers in the areas of wildfire management, urban fire and rescue, and wildland urban interface issues, topics included suppression, fuel management, ecology and biodiversity, community preparedness and warnings, protection of people and property and urban fire and rescue.
Attended by over 1100 people and with 100+ exhibitors the 2008 Conference was hugely successful in advancing the knowledge, thinking and interaction of the industry.
