PDP6: Volunteering in Emergency Services: What does the future look like?

We all know that Emergency Services Volunteers provide a significant portion of the country’s response in times of crisis. The world is forever changing, and engaging new generations and diverse communities, the pace of change of technology and the legislation environment will all be key factors impacting on volunteers in the future. This workshop and forum will engage and motivate participants to discuss and learn about the issues facing volunteering in emergency services, and solutions on how address these issues.

PDP8: Spatial Technologies

With the vast variety and extent of natural disasters we have faced during 2010/2011 the Emergency Services sector is experiencing growing demands from public for information in a spatial context and using social media approaches. This forum will showcase examples of the use and the growing potentials of mapping and location technologies to not only support our Emergency Service sector workforce, but also our public information demands.

PDP9: Personal Protective Clothing & Equipment Forum (PPE)

The dynamics of specifying and procuring Personal Protective Equipment, (PPE), have changed significantly and will continue to do so. A far greater focus on occupational health and safety and fitness for purpose now exists and this is driving the development of new regulations, standards and products. All of this is occurring in an environment where information is more readily accessible, product choice is expanding and budgets are being constrained.
