Introduction
Have you got an item that would be perfect for the Knowledge Web but not sure how to contribute? Follow these quick and easy steps to place your item in the right spot first time.
Instructions
| Step 1. | First things first, you'll need to be logged in to be able to add your item. |
| Step 2. | Navigate to the topic that you would like to place your item under. |
| Step 3. | Under "Contribute to the Kweb," click on the wording "Add a new item" If this doesn't appear on the page you are looking it at, it means that you aren't able to add anything at that page level and you may need to select a sub-topic. This will take you to the Approval step which is the first step to add a new item. |
| Step 4. | The first step requires you to advise us if you have approval to share this document with us.
|
| Step 5. | You are now taken to the Article Details step If you'd like to place this under multiple topics areas, you can do so by clicking Create this article in additional locations and ticking the checkbox for each additional location you want the item to show up under. Your item will only show on the headings with a "-" next to it, so there's no need to select the main headings for these areas. You have the opportunity to show your item in all Research Report areas and Case Studies areas also. |
| Step 6. | Enter in the Full Title of the document and the same name in the Short Title. |
| Step 7. | Rather than uploading the document, you can have a Link or URL from another website. To do so, copy the link of the document and place it in "External link to article" keeping the format like this: http://www.thewebsite.com/filename.pdf. Please note: If you do have the files to upload, you can do so on the final page of steps. |
| Step 8. | Enter in the Published Date using the dropdown box. |
| Step 9. | To understand whether this document can be available to the public or to just AFAC members, you need to advise us whether this is Secure Content by selecting yes or no in the dropdown box. |
| Step 10. | Enter the Organisations in the field supplied that assisted with the report you are placing up. |
| Step 11. | Enter the Authors by clicking the green icon and filling in your details in the box provided. |
| Step12. | You can specify the Location right down to the Suburb or select the State and Country. |
| Step 13. | The following text box allows you to add a summary or Overview of the item you are placing up in the topic. It's recommended you keep this short and to the point. Most people do not read any more than two paragraphs of information. You are also asked to enter the Description and Keywords for the article, this information is needed to assist visitors to find your article. |
| Step 14. | Finally, check all the information that you have filled in, as there is no way to go back and edit the information. If you are happy, press commit to go to the final steps. |
| Step 15. | You are now in the Attachments step. The first link asks whether you would like to submit the item for approval. But if you are uploading the main file to view or uploading any related documents, you will need to use the links provided below. |
| Step 16. | Under the "Main Article" title, you can attach the document to link to. Click "attach the main article for this article." A form will open up to upload the file. Write the title and click browse to find the pdf on your PC before pressing commit. Please note: The first file must be a PDF. For alternative files, you can use the related articles form in Step 17. |
| Step 17. | The same process can be followed under Related Articles but you are now able to upload various file types and more than one. Select the file type before using the designated form. |
| Step 18. | Once you have completed uploading all the files required, you can now select "submit item for approval." |
| Step 19. | The work will not show straight away on the site as your work has now been sent to the Knowledge Web – Web Admin inbox for approval. Please be patient whilst we make sure the appropriate people in AFAC approve it. |
Tips & Warnings
- There is no editing function, so it pays to do a once-over of the page before going to the next page.
- Only PDFs can be uploaded in the title or you can provide a link. Please convert any other file types to PDF to avoid disappointment.
