Legislation governs the operations of fire, land management and emergency services in Australia and New Zealand. Whilst such legislation provides an over all legal framework in which they operate, from time to time it is necessary to supplement the legislation with more detailed and specific directions.
Policies are a mechanism regularly used to provide additional rules and requirements to aid decision making. Agencies are responsible for the formulation of their policies. From time to time AFAC will also develop policies to aid in the conduct of its business.
