Information Standards
Information interoperability represents those common languages and standards that support emergency workers fulfil their roles and confidently exchange and use information across boundaries, multiple organisations and technology systems.
Information in this context is defined as:
- Information that AFAC needs to plan, participate, manage and deliver services and programs for its benefit and those of its members
- Information that AFAC, BCRC and stakeholders need to be able to do their jobs and fulfil their roles within both agency and whole of government contexts
- Information that AFAC needs to advocate on behalf of the sector nationally and internationally
Below is an initial identification of key information areas that contribute to the AFAC Interoperability Framework:
- Glossary of Terms - key industry terms
- All Hazards Symbology - standard symbol sets for spatial representation of key terms
- Equipment Specification (members only) - standard specifications for essential equipment, for example, common couplings
- Australasian Incident Reporting Standard (AIRS) - standard framework and specifications for the capture of industry statistical information
- AIIMS Certification Framework - qualifications required for all incident management roles
- Leadership Capability Framework - attributes required for industry practitioners
- Warning and alert message protocols - key terms to be used in information flows to the community
