AFAC members are working to identify, understand and communicate the standards that can be used to support their systems of operation. For example, information management, communications systems, equipment standards and design standards.
Information and Communications Technology
AFAC Council has adopted two technical standards as recommended by its Chief Information Officers (CIO) Network. These two standards represent continuing development of a standards-based approach to achieving interoperability across AFAC members agencies and the broader emergency management sector.
- Common Alerting Protocol
- Inter-CAD Messaging Standard
The CIO Network is looking at an information management interoperability standards, linking this to work of other working groups of NEMC (National Emergency Management Committee).
Equipment
The Collaborative Procurement Group have commenced work on the identification of the technical standards for common hose couplings across the industry. The discussion paper below outlines progress so far.
