AFAC Strategic Plan
Abraham Lincoln once said “the dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew.”
AFAC exists to strengthen the fire and emergency services. It pursues this vision through an approach of sharing, collaboration and innovation. The AFAC Strategic Plan, recently updated, recognises that the future will hold some tough issues and that these issues are relevant to all member agencies. The Goals as outlined and the major projects identified focus for the next few years on strengthening safety, both community safety and emergency worker safety. It also focuses on re-thinking the operational doctrine that underpins service delivery as well as enriching the professional development of the emergency service workforce.
As this year’s Conference theme suggests, we can no longer afford to manage emergency services the same way we have done in the past.
