Water Point Markers
Around Australia, there are uses other than marking water points proposed for blue reflective markers. To avoid confusion AFAC has adopted the following position.
Where water supplies suitable for firefighting are to be marked, they should be identified with a blue marker or markers, preferably retro-reflective.
The blue retro-reflective marker(s) may be located on the road surface, or mounted on roadside signs and/or posts according to local conditions, guidelines, standards and legislation.
Where blue retro-reflective markers are fixed to signs or posts the use of predominantly blue signs or posts for this purpose is preferred, however standard roadside posts are acceptable.
Blue retro-reflective markers should not be used for any other purpose likely to result in confusion for firefighters.
