The review of the Australasian Inter-service Incident Management SystemTM (AIIMS) Revised Edition 2011 has been completed, with the latest edition released by AFAC in October 2011.
Concurrent with the review of AIIMS, AFAC has been working with En Masse to update the AIIMS Training Resource Kit (TRK), originally prepared in 2006 to support the delivery of training in the AIIMS 3rd Edition, 2005.
En Masse was selected to work with AFAC on preparing the updated AIIMS TRK because it is a consulting firm that brings together lawyers, psychologists, educators and management consultants to achieve business and cultural transformation. The AFAC and En Masse team has made significant progress in updating the TRK in line with the AIIMS Revised Edition 2011 and embedding the findings of the Bushfire CRC researchers into the material.
The updated AIIMS TRK will contain all the relevant updated information about the System and its principles, but this material will be supported by activities that encourage participants to explore concepts such as self-awareness, managing information, decision making, situational awareness, worst case scenarios, leadership and team work. The addition of these concepts is one example of how AFAC is working with the Bushfire CRC to ensure research adoption occurs and the knowledge is transferred to end users in the field.
The AIIMS TRK Revised Edition 2011 is due for completion in December 2011. A pilot of some of the content will occur shortly thereafter and the material will be available in early 2012 through the AFAC Shop.
