Roger McCarthy, Scania Australia Managing Director, today signed on as major sponsor for the AFAC and Bushfire CRC conference 2011. This is the fourth year Scania has supported the event, this year to be held in Sydney at the end of August.

“We view our support of events such as this as partnership arrangements and we have been pleased to again partner with AFAC and the Bushfire CRC.” Mr McCarthy said.

“This is a significant conference on the calendar for many of our major clients in this region and I am pleased Scania have the opportunity to be involved. This is the fourth year Scania have played a major role in supporting the conference, and we have seen this event grow from strength to strength during the time we have been involved.” He said.

According to Naomi Brown AFAC, CEO, the support of Scania and the other significant conference sponsors has enabled the event to grow into the biggest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

“It really is the premier emergency management conference in Australasia. This year we have over 140 trade exhibitors and have internationally recognised speakers as well as national experts taking part. In addition, we are holding a full day of professional development seminars and workshops before the conference start and have added a full day research and science conference at the close of the two day core conference.” She said

“We are delighted to continue to build on our strong relationship with Scania and I echo Roger’s sentiments. AFAC is fortunate to have a number of companies who we consider our corporate partners and who have been with us for a number of years.” Ms Brown said.
