Australian fire and emergency service personal have been sent to the earthquake hit regions of Samoa and Sumatra Indonesia.

The Department of Community Safety – QFRS sent 34 personnel, a combination of paramedics and USAR specialists, to Sumatra Indonesia this morning to assist with the resuce efforts following Wednesday's earthquake. 

NSW Fire Brigades sent four USAR specialists to Samoa yesterday to assist with the recovery efforts following Wednesday's tsunami.
