ANZLIC - The Spatial Information Council, in association with the Intergovernmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping (ICSM) want to encourage consistency in how All-Hazards events are depicted on maps and aim to develop a consistent Australasian All-Hazards symbology set and have it adopted by emergency management agencies across Australia and New Zealand. In the medium term, the symbology set would be further developed to support agencies leading responses to law enforcement and counter terrorism.
The Emergency Management Spatial Information Network of Australia (EMSINA) has defined a process to test and report on the suitability of the framework and symbols detailed in the final Australasian All Hazards Symbology Project final report.
AFAC has been supporting the EMSINA team in progressing their work.
Visit the ANZLIC website to read more about the symbology project and how you may be able to benefit from their work and contribute to the outcome.
