Overview
Victoria’s parks and forests contain a great diversity of ecosystems. These ecosystems include mallee woodlands in the State’s north-west, widespread heathlands and wetlands, and tall, dense forests and lush rainforest in mountain areas. About one third of Victoria is national park, State forest or other conservation area. Of this seven million hectares, about half comprises national and other parks, and half comprises State forest.
