Overview
The curing process is the dying of grasses during the dry season. The degree of curing represents the proportion of dead material in a grassland fuel complex. In simple terms, it is the percentage of grass fuel that is dead. It serves as a measure of grassland fire risk. The degree of curing has a significant impact on fire behaviour in grasslands. Given the highly dynamic nature of curing in the lead up to the fire season, this project is addressing the need for mapping products that will deliver curing information that can be directly integrated into Australian and New Zealand fire danger rating systems.
