Overview

This Fire Note summarises the research from two Bushfire CRC projects addressing the broad impacts of smoke. The project ‘Smoke Composition and Impact on Human Health and Ecosystems’ is aimed at understanding ecological aspects of smoke composition by characterising nutrient loss in smoke and how the composition of gaseous organic compoundsvaries with fuel compositionand combustion conditions. The project ‘Air Toxics Exposure and Management’ addresses exposure and smoke-related health issues faced by firefighters on the fire ground and how to minimise the risks.
