Overview
This project used a statistical modelling approach to determine if vegetation flammability and wildfire hazard indices can predict fire extent. The researchers used historical wildfire records and compared them to the national, daily updated maps of fire hazard indices provided by the National Rural Fire Authority (NRFA). They integrated the maps with vegetation flammability information with the historic dataset to see if the extra information improves the ability to predict wildfire extent.
