Overview

This article published in Fire Ecology compares a range of:

  • metal and tile pyrometers
  • calorimeters of different sizes
  • fuel consumption

to time-temperature metrics derived from thick and thin thermocouples to determine their usefulness in predicting temperatures.  The researchers found that all instruments underestimated maximum temperatures but they found they were useful for predicting other aspects of fire behaviour.
