Overview
The primary objective of the Fuel Consumption and Flammability Thresholds in Shrub-Dominated Ecosystems research was to improve existing fuel consumption models for sagebrush fuel types and to develop new models for additional shrub-dominated fuel types for incorporation into a module for, or a new version of the software package CONSUME.
Despite the amount of fires occurring in shrub dominated landscapes in the United States little research had been conducted in this area. Measurements were taken before and after operational prescribed fires in four shrub-dominated vegetation types over a four year period.
