Overview
This report examines the safe employment of personnel with red green colour vision deficiencies in the New South Wales Fire Brigades. It examines the basis for the current standard, noting that it reflected the National Transport Commission’s earlier standard for commercial drivers, which excluded drivers with a protan defect. The application of disability discrimination and equal opportunity principles in relation to colour vision deficiencies is discussed.
