This section of the Knowledge Web collects together information about flood and windstorm planning, management and evacuation.
State and Territory Emergency Services across Australia are involved in flood planning as part of their role as lead response agency for flooding incidents. Community education, the provision of warnings, and the planning and conduct of evacuations are critical parts of that involvement. The documents in this part of the Knowledge Web reflect the experiences of State Emergency Services in this field. There is also information about one specific, high risk aspect of flood management and planning; dam failure.
The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has a role to observe and understand Australian weather and climate and provide meteorological, hydrological and oceanographic services in support of Australia's national needs and international obligations.
