Overview
The International Bushfire Research Conference 2008 - incorporating The 15th annual AFAC Conference, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
Fire-prone shrublands dominate much of the Mediterranean-climiate landscape on the west coast of North America. Although large fires (>10,000 ha) have not changed in frequency over the past 125 years, there has been a recent increase in extremely large fires (>50,000 ha). Here we will discuss the relative roles of climate, weather and past fire management practises that have contributed to these extreme fire events.
