The Executive Leadership Program (ELP) is designed for executives identified as having the potential to achieve the most senior position within their organisation.  The program focuses on strategic leadership issues that will shape future policy planning in emergency services.

The ELP builds on the knowledge acquired through the Executive Development Program (EDP). Completion of the EDP (or an equivalent course of study) is a pre-requisite criterion for enrolment in the ELP.

Upon successfully completing the ELP, participants will be awarded a Graduate Diploma in Executive Leadership (Policing and Emergency Services).

Program Outcomes

  • Thorough knowledge of executive leadership roles, responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Awareness of major emergency services and public safety issues (both administrative and operational) and the ability to provide effective management and leadership.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and skills in a strategic, operationally effective manner.
  • Enhanced inter-organisational professional networks, and a capacity to use these networks for inter-agency operations and initiatives.
  • A clear understanding of the individual’s current capacity and a plan for further professional development.
  • Pathway for graduates to undertake the Masters of Emergency Management at Charles Sturt University

Selection Criteria

  • Nominees must have a tertiary qualification and/or 9 years experience within their industry and 5 years experience in a senior management position.
  • Nominees must have successfully completed the Executive Development Program – Graduate Certificate in Applied Management (Policing and Emergency Services), or equivalent.
  • Nominees should demonstrate potential for further career development.
    Nominees should have intermediate Microsoft Office skills.

Structure:
A 12 month distance education component plus a two week intensive residential program.
